Inches to Pixels Converter

Pixels: 96

Formula to Convert Inches to Pixels

Pixels = Inches × PPI

Example: If you have 5 inches and a screen with 96 PPI, the conversion is:

5 × 96 = 480 pixels

Where:

  • Inches = The length in inches.
  • PPI (Pixels Per Inch) = The number of pixels per inch (depends on the screen resolution).

Inches (Width x Height) to Pixels

Pixels: 96 × 96

How to Convert Inches (Width x Height) to Pixels

  1. Measure the dimensions - Determine the width and height of your image or screen in inches.
  2. Find the PPI value - Identify the pixels per inch (PPI) of your display. Common values are:
    • 72 PPI (standard for web graphics)
    • 96 PPI (standard for Windows displays)
    • 300 PPI (standard for print quality)
  3. Calculate width in pixels - Multiply the width in inches by the PPI:
Width (pixels) = Width (inches) × PPI
  4. Calculate height in pixels - Multiply the height in inches by the PPI:
Height (pixels) = Height (inches) × PPI
  5. Combine the results - Your final dimensions will be width × height in pixels.

Example Calculation:

For a 4×6 inch photo at 300 PPI:

  • Width: 4 inches × 300 PPI = 1200 pixels
  • Height: 6 inches × 300 PPI = 1800 pixels

Final dimensions: 1200 × 1800 pixels

How to use this chart:

  • Find your desired print or screen size in the left column
  • Locate your target PPI (pixels per inch) in the header row
  • The intersection shows the required pixel dimensions
  • For example: A 5×7" photo at 300 PPI requires 1500 × 2100 pixels

Standard PPI Values:

  • 72 PPI: Web graphics standard (though modern screens use higher PPIs)
  • 96 PPI: Default for Windows systems
  • 150 PPI: Minimum for decent print quality
  • 200 PPI: Good print quality for photos
  • 300 PPI: High-quality professional printing
